ABOUT ME
MY STORY
Since 2020, Paige Hodder has taken a curious, community-informed, and narrative-driven lens to her reporting, showcasing numerous midwestern stories over the years.
Paige spent the summer of 2022 on Mackinac Island, working for the local paper as a general reporter. She wrote a variety of stories, covering city meetings to sail boat races, all with a community-informed creed at the heart of her work. Mackinac is also where Paige began to learn photography, inspired by the beauty of the Island, the Great Lakes, and the people who call the area home.
Over the course of 2022 and into 2023, Paige researched, wrote, and edited a long-form literary analysis of lesbian community magazines from 1970’s East Lansing and Ann Arbor, Michigan. A meditation on community, connection, and actualization through writing, the project ultimately won the 2023 Arthur Fondiler Award at the University of Michigan.
Paige spends her free time traveling, practicing photography, and with her family - typically on or near the water. Her love of Michigan has grown with every year she has spent here, and she strives to capture the beauty, wonder, and unique culture of the Great Lakes region with her work.
Paige began her journalism career at The Michigan Daily, a tenure which culminated in her serving as Managing Editor and Editor in Chief in 2022. Here, she shaped her craft as a reporter and a leader, testing her skills by interviewing a University president and managing a staff of over 500.
Paige’s parents, Cale and Teresa Hodder.
